These terms govern your use of strikeablock.com (the “Site”) and its offerings: free in-browser mining, paid “Genesis Strikes” mined on real hardware, and physical “Block Coins” printed to order. By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
1. What Strike a Block is (and isn't)
Strike a Block is a novelty and educational service. It lets you create a “genesis block”, a data record carrying a short message (“inscription”) whose fingerprint meets a proof-of-work target, the same mechanism that secures Bitcoin.
- Blocks created here are not part of Bitcoin or any public blockchain. They are standalone digital artifacts.
- They are not cryptocurrency, not tokens, not securities, and carry no monetary or investment value. Nothing on the Site is financial advice or an offer of any financial product.
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Bitcoin, Bitmain, GekkoScience, or any other project or company mentioned for reference.
2. Free in-browser mining
The free miner runs entirely in your web browser, on your own device, at a low “toy” difficulty. Nothing is submitted to us, queued, or stored. It's provided for learning and fun, with no warranty and no guarantee of any particular result.
3. Genesis Strikes (paid)
A Genesis Strike is a made-to-order digital item mined on our own hardware. You pay at checkout (no account needed), type your inscription into the checkout form, and we mine a real block at your chosen depth — from Bitcoin's original genesis difficulty ($6.99) to deeper paid tiers — and publish it to the public vault. The price for each depth is shown before you pay.
- The block is displayed in the vault publicly and anonymously, the inscription is shown, but nothing identifying you (name, email, account) is shown.
- The block record (its hash, nonce, and full header) is publicly viewable and verifiable.
- Delivery depends on our hardware and is typically minutes, but is not guaranteed; a strike may fail or be retried.
- Strikes purchased while the earlier free beta was live remain in the vault under the terms that applied then.
4. Block Coins (physical goods)
A Block Coin is a 3D-printed coin containing an NFC chip programmed with the page of one public block in the vault. It is a keepsake, not currency, and has no monetary value. Coins are printed to order in the United States and sold through Stripe checkout, where you choose a color and give a shipping address.
- Shipping. We currently ship to addresses in the United States only; shipping is included in the price. Coins typically ship within ten business days of your order, but this is an estimate, not a guarantee. We email a tracking number when your coin is in the mail.
- Which block. The checkout you open from a block's page carries that block's id. If an order reaches us without one, we will email you to ask; if we cannot tie your order to a public block, we refund it.
- Defects and damage. If your coin arrives damaged, or its chip does not open the block's page, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we will print and ship a replacement at no charge (or refund you if we cannot).
- Returns. Because every coin is made to order for a specific block, we do not otherwise accept returns or cancellations once printing has begun. Write to us promptly after ordering if you need to change the address or the color.
- Lost in transit. If tracking shows a coin never arrived, we will send a replacement once.
- Hidden blocks. A coin points to a block's page; if that block is later removed from the public vault under §5, the coin's link will no longer resolve. We will not remove a block solely because a coin exists for it, but we cannot guarantee any page indefinitely (§7).
5. Your inscription: content rules
You are responsible for the text you submit. You must not submit anything that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, is hateful, harassing, obscene, deceptive, or that contains private or sensitive personal information about anyone.
Because Genesis Strike inscriptions are published publicly, do not include anything you wouldn't want to be permanently and publicly visible. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, and display your inscription and its block on the Site. We may refuse, remove, or decline to publish any inscription at our discretion, and will refund a paid strike we decline to publish.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your full card details. The price is shown before you pay. If we cannot strike your block, or we decline to publish your inscription under §5, we refund the purchase. Because each block is a made-to-order digital item mined on real hardware, completed and published strikes are otherwise non-refundable. Refunds and replacements for Block Coins are described in §4.
7. Availability
The Site and the mining hardware are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, including the vault, without notice.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and all blocks are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any block will have any particular value or use. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Treezy Technologies Inc.'s total liability arising out of or relating to the Site, a Genesis Strike, or a Block Coin will not exceed the amount you paid us for the item in question (or USD $1 if you paid nothing).
9. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Site: no attempts to disrupt, overload, reverse the payment flow fraudulently, or use automated means to place large volumes of orders. We may block access or cancel orders that appear fraudulent or abusive.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Questions about these terms or a purchase: hello@strikeablock.com.
